50th Anniversary Trip; Baguette Mania; 17-18 Dec

There is a great bakery near here (Jardin) called L'Express, so we visited and grabbed a couple of crunchy baguettes and one of their delicious pains du chocolate. Not sure we mentioned that we mainly ate breakfast French-style while at Club F, namely coffee, juice, croissants, jelly and sliced baguettes.  Thierry went out each morning to procure them, except once there weren't any available except at a restaurant in the Village- thanks to the strike. Good way to start the day but a little fattening so we're back to Special K with bananas while here in the Jardin- since no one is feeding us breakfast. If there's a hunk of baguette laying around, it might get toasted and added to the menu.

Last night we did a little faux pas, I plugged a multiplug thingie into the 220V French outlets and got a big bang, all the lights went out.  It blew the main circuit breaker for the apartment, luckily no effect on the rest of the place. Our host Lionel came in, shook his head and said no-no to American plugs like that. Oh well. It was a pretty impressive spark, good ole 220V!

Looks like the strike is over! We read that the Government capitulated and cancelled the new laws, lots of traffic today and there were even some cruisers on the beach! Not that they stayed. We hit the beach at 9, they had the umbrellas up and we stayed until 3PM. Beautiful day, slightly less wind so I even got to do my patented float down the beach in my mini-raft (2 tubes with a net in between). I hauled the damn thing down here so had to use it.  Actually it was nice for floating in Jardin's pool, even with the cool water.

A little snag in paradise tonight, I managed to trip on a step leading to the loungers at the pool and fell and wrenched my shoulder, maybe pulled something. I hope to leverage for maximum sympathy from poor Joni. There is a little restaurant down the street so Joni drove us down and we ordered, guess what, a pizza!  Good but nowhere near BO Pizza's standards (that we had last Thursday when we arrived)! I tried a Desparado beer, never had one of those, felt pretty frisky drinking it.

Moving to Residence Adam and Eve tomorrow. Jardin we hardly knew ye!

Here are pics of the construction going on down the beach, some Club O units look ok, Joni on pretty empty beach (but it was early), another umbrella concession next to us.
